My memoir, No Fight, No Blame; A Journalist’s Life in Martial Arts, is available in paperback and ebook on Amazon.com. The book also can be found on the shelves at Bookshop Santa Cruz and Books Inc. Campbell.

The memoir distills what I’ve learned from more than 50 years of martial arts training in various styles, beginning with Karate, Taekwondo and Northern Shaolin before moving on to the internal styles of Xinyi, Bagua and Taiji. It also profiles the great masters I’ve trained under, including Wong Jack Man, George Xu, Zhang Xuexin, Chen Xiang and Hunyuan Taiji founder Feng Zhiqiang.

I invite you to check it out. You can read the introduction and first chapter of the book by clicking here.

Here’s an excerpt from my book that covers my early days of journalism in Madison, Wisconsin, and my move to San Francisco to learn Chinese martial arts. It’s in the the New York literary magazine Cable Street, cablestreet.org
